Dental examinations evaluate the health of your entire mouth, including supporting structures. Examinations check the health of each tooth for signs of decay, wear, or breakdown and allow us to make sure existing dental work including fillings, crowns, implants, are secure and intact.
X-rays allow us to check the mouth for health issues which we can’t see with our eyes. Our dental exam will also assess your bite for proper alignment and gums for any signs of tenderness, bleeding, or disease.
After being welcomed to our office by our wonderful team members, we will have new patient forms for you to complete. These forms are available on our site underneath the Patient Info section if you would prefer to help expedite your first visit by completing them at home and bringing them with you.
Your first visit to our office will include a comprehensive examination by the doctor, any necessary x-rays, and a periodontal (gum) screening. If your first visit is for an emergency, a limited exam and necessary x-rays focusing solely on the emergent issue will be performed.
A dental cleaning will not be scheduled until a periodontal screening is performed and the doctor reviews the findings to make sure the proper diagnosis is made and treatment recommended for your individual needs. Your teeth may be cleaned at this initial visit, depending on the condition of your gum health.
